Тема «Образование» включает в себя изучение слов и выражений, связанных с любым обучением – школа, университет, курсы и т.п. «Образование» на английском звучит как «education». Образование делится на несколько видов:
1. Неполное среднее образование – Junior secondary education
2. Полное среднее образование – High education, high-school education.
3. Высшее образование – The higher education.
Кроме того, само высшее образование подразделяется на бакалавриат (baccalaureate) и магистратуру (magistracy).
Первой ступенью обучения каждого ученика является школа (school). Школа делится на два типа: начальная (elementary school) и средняя (secondary school).
Кроме того, школы имеют еще несколько видов:

Школьникам на вопрос о деятельности можно отвечать так:
I study in school./I go to school. – Я учусь в школе.
I am pupil. – Я ученик.
Для уточнения, в какой именно школе учится ребенок, можно употреблять следующее:
I study in the elementary/secondary school. – Я учусь в начальной/средней школе.
Для того, чтобы сказать, в каком именно классе (form) учится ученик, нужно использовать порядковые числительные (first, second, third, etc.):
I study in the first form. – Я учусь в первом классе.
Заведует школой директор школы – headmaster, а уроки ведет – teacher. В конце обучения школьники получают аттестат – the sertisicate.
В конце школьного обучения проходят выпускные экзамены (final exams) и проходит выпускной вечер (farewell party).
После окончания школы и получения полного/неполного образования школьник (schoolchild) поступает в университет/колледж:
to enter the university/college – поступить в университет/колледж
I study in college/university. – Я учусь в колледже/университет.
I am student. – Я студент.
I’d like to enter the linguistic university. – Я хочу поступить в лингвистический университет.
Внимание! В сочетание to enter the … не употребляется частица to. Будьте внимательны.
Стоит отметить, что при вопросе «Где ты учишься?» отвечают коротко, без глагола to study:
Where do you study? – I’m at the University of Moscow. Где ты учишься? – Я учусь в Московском Университете.
Для обозначения курса (year) точно так же, как и класса, употребляются порядковые числительные:
Which year are you in? – I’m in my fourth/final year. На каком курсе ты учишься? – Я учусь на четвертом/последнем курсе.
Кроме того, в разговорной речи употребляется такое слово, как freshman – первокурсник.
После окончания университета студенты получают степень бакалавра или магистра.
I have the higher education. – У меня есть высшее образование.
I have a bachelor’s/master’s degree. – Я имею степень бакалавра/магистра.
I graduated from University. – Я закончил университет.
Внимание! Нельзя употреблять сочетание «I’m graduated». Возможны только два варианта «I have graduated»/ «I graduated».

All these facilities are located within the premises of the school. I wish our school had a superb range of sporting and academic facilities and a network of computers around the building. Our school is a three storied building where there are workshops for boys and girls, gyms a canteen, a library and classrooms for pupils.
We study a lot of subjects, none of them is optional. In all subjects we are supposed to get deep knowledge, to cope with all sorts of tasks, to do our work good enough. Besides, the aim of school presupposes to bring up creative personalities from its pupils. Obviously, without encouraging personal teaching it can hardly work.
The real education has to be a preparation for the future, when students are able to decide things for themselves as free individuals, free by self-knowledge and self-control. In the future one has to be culturally adaptable and adept at languages. The real education should produce the most well-round and the most employable adult, who will be able to market his skills across the continent, not only his country.
The aim of education should be to use childhood and adolescence to create emotional wholeness and personal strength, to develop a self-regulating character, because the human personality is a five fold constitution: it is a body, a life, a mind, a psychic and a spiritual being. None of these fundamentals stands disconnected from the others.
The aim of education can be achieved with the help of creating collaboration between teachers, parents and children. Thus, the teacher is a sculptor of young personality. Such profession demands of this man great generosity of soul, love for pupils and devotion to his work, talent to release the latent genius from a child.
But the profession isn’t something stable. In our schools today we feel shortage of progressive tutors which can teach with a new modern approach. Certainly, schools buy computers for children and teachers use whiteboards or even TFT monitors or digital projectors rather than old blackboards. Some institutions even keep in touch with parents by internet .Although if we compare with driverless cars, speech and text recognition and implantation of internal organs, financial services and any other innovation, teaching still stays really disconnected from technology. The policy of school teaching should change according to the modern requirements. Technology can improve education in many ways and there is real scope for further progress but there is no doubt real human interaction is essential. Human beings are not only hardware to be loaded with as much programs as possible. Technology is great when it’s used well in an appropriate fashion. Otherwise it’s just another distraction kids and teachers don’t need.
Learning is not only cramming the child’s brain with useful information, but teaching a child thinking skills through making right decisions and correct choices. School must stir the curiosity and creativity of pupils and not grow up a submissive machine. Children should not only be introduced to science, figures and computers but taught that communicating and skills used in fact are as important as knowledge itself. They must be aware of grammar, but not bombarded with boring terms. A report should be an interesting discovery and not a boring obligation.
The problem of education lies in the lack of ability to communicate. It has been proved that the education we get in our country is much better than that students get in more developed countries. Why not open some programs for teenagers who have problems or why not get kids involved in the process of studying with a help of a mobile-compatible learning portal where staff and students can work collaboratively. What is even more important, we have to motivate teachers and raise their salaries. We are to show all the true respect for them, so that these people will start to work to the full of their ability.
Children need more communication and soul put into schooling process. In my opinion that is the key to success if our country wants to raise teenagers who will not get involved in trouble and who will want to help their country.
To crown it all I’d like to mention that it very often happens that the curriculum squeezes subjects like Music, Art, and Drama. But Art is a mighty means of expression and it is important to make connections between Art, learning and the curriculum to help the growing soul to draw out the best and make it perfect for a noble use.
Our modern world is full of technological advances and education is very important today. Human progress mainly depends on well-educated people. They say that those who have information, rule the world.
When we are 7 years old we are sent to schools to get useful knowledge about our world, although that isn’t the main purpose of education. The most important thing, to my mind, is learning how to learn in order to use this ability in our future life. At school children also enjoy lots of cultural activities which reveal their personal talents. However some people think that the current system of education isn’t able to teach pupils how to become good thinkers and schools are only about passing exams.

Let’s try to imagine the world without education, without any schools, colleges and universities. What would that be like? No school means no knowledge and skills. No university means no doctors, no engineers and no scientists. Therefore, it means no development and no inventions. Would you like to live in the world that is deteriorating? The answer is quite obvious: it’s vitally important to study and get an education.
Nowadays there’re different kinds of education, but the most wide-spread is still the traditional one that includes the set of establishments providing education. For the vast majority of people, the first step is a primary school where students get the basic skills of reading, writing and counting. The next stage is secondary school which gives broad knowledge about various subjects and prepares students for future professional education. At the end of the last form school children take exams and after school graduation they have several options: to stop studying and get a job or get professional education in college or university. Students’ life is not easy because they have to take exams every term and study hard to succeed. Nevertheless, most people remember students’ years as the best time of their lives, full of fun and entertainment.
However, modern world is full of new opportunities to get education. More and more schools and universities provide on-line courses and trainings. It has some advantages for sure, because you study in a comfortable place at comfortable time. Also, some alternative ways are becoming more and more popular, e.g. home education or some approaches connected with developing the mind without books and strict systems.
As for me, I’m fully convinced that, no matter what kind of education you support, it’s necessary to study and develop your skills, to use the experience of others to create your own ideas in order to implement them to life.
